one of the most intimidating yet rewarding experiences for an american in rome is visiting the trionfale market. because it's largely out of the way of most tourist attractions, the market has retained a lot of its italian authenticity and remains pretty untouched by the outside world... which makes for some embarrassing displays of "i don't know what the hell i'm doing" & the most fascinating and delicious sights. i could spend all day there, but by the time i catch myself just staring and drooling at the cases full of mozzarella i figure it's time to salvage the american name and move along.
