first of all, an apology to my large fan base (hi mom). i've been a terrible slacker when it comes to this silly blogging thing. my original plan was to keep a wide range of topics going (hence the title, more on that later). but being as all i seem to be doing these days is thinking about my next meal, i guess you can just expect a lot more food and minimal variety in between. doesn't sound too tragic to me. so until then...
this weekend marked our first foray into traveling outside of rome...hello florence, i'm in love with you.
in all honesty, i wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as i did. this is not my typical blind stubbornness where i form opinions based on nothing but my desire to be difficult (i am italian after all). after studying the architecture in a previous class i really wasn't all that moved by it. but take it from me, pictures don't do it justice.
you can't help but feel creative when you're there. it's much more of a pedestrian city than rome, and walking around really allows you to appreciate the abundance of art and inspiration. even the kids are kinda cute there, so they must be doing something right.
i was too busy oogling the leather markets to take any pictures, and the whole experience was a blur more than anything else. my significantly lighter wallet, however, is proof that i did in fact make an appearance there. but out of all the sights, nothing beat watching the sunset from ponte vecchio. if you ever have the chance, it's not something you want to pass up.
