"there are only two types of women,...

goddesses and doormats."
pablo picasso

every thursday morning my sketchbooking class meets at a new location, using the endless sights as both subjects and teaching mechanisms. this morning we lucked out in that we got to chance to explore the hendrik christian andersen museum just a few doors down from school. the artist's former residence, the museum is essentially two large galleries filled with dozens of massive plaster figures. the effect is trippy, and could very well be the museum equivalent of disney world- sensory overload, caricatures of people rather than realistic representations, and just absolutely bizarre.
we were supposed to working on tones and shading, a skill i struggle with and have never used much in my large portfolio of stick figures and other first-class doodles. andersen definitely had a sense of humor though, being as i spent the majority of my morning sketching a tranny. whatever floats yer boat i guess.
goddess/doormat mix? hmph.
