reuben of the week

some things you simply cannot debate. the grass is green,  scrunchies and crocs are a sin, and reubens are the greatest sandwiches known to man and beast alike. don't bother arguing with me, because you're wrong.  while the origin of the sandwich itself is debated, you can't deny the fact that corned beef + sauerkraut + russian dressing + swiss + rye bread = perfection in your mouth.

and so i decided to make this blog and my appetite useful by giving myself a challenge: try every reuben in state college, rate them all, and therefore save all of you sandwich lovers out there the trouble of doing the leg work yourself. you can thank me later. first up...

fraser street deli's 'franco harris'
ok, so the franco harris version has pastrami instead of corned beef. but because harris himself is a penn state alum and former pittsburgh steeler (not to mention the fact that this is the man that gave us 'the immaculate reception'), i was morally obligated to make the switch.

while the sauerkraut was perfectly tangy and the melted swiss met the melty & cheesy requirements, the meat  was plentiful but overly dry and if my taste buds weren't searching for the dressing, they never would have found it. as for the bread, girlfriend needs some CRUNCH!

overall, i give this pup a B. as henry would say as far as grades are concerned, it's "in the zone" : acceptable, but there's plenty of room for improvement.

hope you all enjoyed as much as i did...until next week!
