i would estimate that 90% of my pre-travel energy is dedicated to packing, unpacking, repacking, and so on.  it has something to do with a combination of not knowing what to expect, enjoying the knowledge that i have options as to what i wear and, well, just being a girl. 

the perk of traveling with a friend, however, is that you can rest assured that, even if you pack completely inappropriate things/change your mind about what you're just dying to wear/like to be difficult, you have a whole other wardrobe at your disposal.

kristina and i, stylewise, have very different taste.  she tends toward choosing vibrant lilly pulitzer prints paired with classic accessories, while i prefer much more muted styles with borderline tacky jewelry and bold accents. 

despite the differences, our two very contrasting wardrobes have been living in harmony in our shared closet over the past week and, when needed, have mixed and matched to perfection.  as a matter of fact, right this very second i'm wearing a jcrew cardigan while she's sporting converse. if i didn't know any better, i'd say we're starting to rub off on each other.
