the past few weeks have been some combination of the three, with little time for much else...except shopping, there is always time for shopping. doing everything necessary to accomplish those basics, plus attempting to make my apartment and this city feel like home, has left me in a bit of a creative rut.  a girl can only sew buttons on dresses and mindlessly type up pattern catalogues for so long before her brain turns to mush.  however sunday handed me just what i needed to get back to that lovely place of wanting nothing more than to sit down with a pile of appliques, thread, beads, whatever and create something out of nothing. it's been far too long since my hands have been busy going about my creative endeavors, and the return to normalcy in that regard made me realize how much i've missed it.
so what happened on sunday, you ask? while sitting at lunch with my roommates, my creepy radar went wild when i realized i was sitting directly adjacent to the sartorialist himself, scott schuman, and his effortlessly chic girlfriend garance dore, of une fille comme moi (see the blogroll at right to snoop at their blogs and possibly understand why this was the greatest moment of my blogging career). they were pretty much attached at the mouth the whole time, so i avoided eye contact as it would have been awkward for everyone involved. regardless, seeing two people with a great eye for style and living art was enough to remind me why i'm in new york in the first place- to watch, learn, and be inspired by the most amazing city in the world.
