ina garten...

i'd potentially consider considering becoming a lesbian for you.

i'll preface this by saying that i'm not anti-vegetable by any means, however they aren't something i've ever craved over the past 21 years.  and with that comes my distaste for cooking anything i won't be dying to eat by the time it is finished.
so when i made dinner over break (roast chicken mm) and was forced by my mom to "do something with the string beans in the fridge," i wasn't exactly excited by the idea.  but Ina Garten went and single-handedly turned my own personal paradigm on its head with this recipe, which is so delicious and simple that i've been thinking about it constantly.
enjoy!

String Beans with Garlic
-1 1/2 lbs string beans, with both ends removed
-kosher salt
-2 T unsalted butter
-1 T good olive oil
-2 or 3 cloves of garlic, sliced
-freshly ground black pepper

1. Blanch string beans in boiling salted water for 1 1/2 minutes.  Drain immediately and immerse in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking. Drain and set aside when cool.

2. Heat butter and olive oil in a sauce pan over medium heat; cook garlic for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.

3. Add string beans, toss with salt and pepper to taste.  Let the string beans reheat and serve!
ohh butter and garlic, it truly doesn't get any better than that, gastronomically speaking. or in the grand scheme of life, really.
