for as much time and as little space as we share, there is still so much that my roommates and i have yet to learn about each other. some things, like the fact that jacqui eats an average of 3 breakfasts a day, became clear within the first week. mostly though, things aren't quite that straightforward. in my attempts to get to know people, or when i'm incredibly bored, there are certain questions i can't help but ask. if you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would you pick? that's usually my first go-to for whatever reason, and it was a silly question like this that brought on what we like to creatively refer to as the question game. or, when we're feeling like the classy broads we are, the decameron.
the name is a reference to boccaccio's novel of the same name, a story about ten young people escaping florence and the plague by heading to a villa in the countryside. there, each day a king or queen is elected, and the ruler of the day then selects a theme. each of the ten must tell a story based on the decided theme; and in a way we each tell our own stories with our own themes when we answer each question. hopeful, serious, superficial, obscene, romantic, hilarious- answers dance all over the charts, and no response is off limits as long as it's true.
some of those that have yielded the most memorable answers (and no, you will not be getting anything out of me unless you buy me either dinner or one too many drinks):
in what moment were you most proud of yourself?
if you could do one thing without anyone finding out, what would you do?
what are you adamant about doing before you die?
what are you adamant about doing before you die?
best kiss?
what is the worst thing you've ever done?

i started to write this post in march, it feels like ages ago. i never finished it, for whatever reason it just felt incomplete. but thank you, my procrastination, for making me put this post off so long that i forgot about it until now, when i have the perfect compliment to my little story!
one of the predicaments associated with the question game is that, after a while, it can be a little difficult to come up with thought-provoking questions that provide for juicy answers.
tori sent me this website last night...problem solved!
not only is it a fun time-killer, but it will teach you things about your friends that you never would have guessed.
the duality of it is just so genius and magical! do it do it, i'm peer pressuring you.
