twelve more years of catholic school wouldn't have prepared me for my time in jerusalem. you can read the bible until your face is blue, there's just no way to expect what you get when you go there. i had this preconceived image in my head, which was totally wrong, but looking back i can't quite remember what it was that i was expecting.  so many cultures and religions are represented in one small space, i would need at least a week there just to begin to take it all in. but hey what's new.
