a living work of art."

my opinion of graffiti is a lot like my opinion of tattoos: it brings art down to a more approachable and less pretentious level, but at the same time i don't necessarily like it as a rule. rome, for example, is covered in spray paint but not in an attractive way. italians hit their peak in art long ago, it seems.
one of my favorite things about tel aviv, though, was not that there was graffiti everywhere but that it was consistently interesting. everything seemed to have a purpose, rather than just being the result of boredom. it certainly made my aimless exploring much more exciting, and made me fall in love with the city even more.
