as another catholic guilt-ridden lent rolls around, i'm finding myself looking forward to the added motivation to exercise more regularly, commit random acts of kindness, and stop eating like a 6-year-old (the box of cheddar bunnies stashed under my bed has got to be the first to go). i may be a lax catholic the other 325 days of the year, but these 6 or so weeks are my time to shine, baby.
but why get ahead of myself? you can't start lent without first celebrating mardi gras. the term literally translates to 'fat tuesday,' and so fat i am going to embrace...and i'm bringing my coworkers down with me.
when my mind runs through the long list of my favorite fat kid foods, there are the usual standouts: cake, french fries, chicken nugs, ice cream, the occasional deep-fried snickers bar.
and of course, doughnuts.
with monday off for president's day and a full office of hungry people to deliver the finished products to today, i couldn't resist.
ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon add flavor without the calories...not like i'm counting those today, anyway.
and did you know that if you add healthy ingredients such as pumpkin to things like butter and sugar, whatever you're making automatically becomes healthy too? fact.
...oops.
ta-da! maple-glazed pumpkin spice doughnuts for everyone!
happy fat tuesday, fellow fatties-for-the-day.
