and this time, i have a sidekick.
i figured it would be best to get a second opinion when rating these things. i mean, i'm always right just ask me, but maybe my criteria isn't quite that of everyone else. so enter THE reuben queen, amy.
at first glance, my sandwich was a beaut. toasty and buttery with the stuffing overflowing just a tad from the rye, tempting me with its promise. and holy cheese! they certainly did not skimp on ingredients. while that fact definitely gave the sammy some points, it also detracted from the total score a bit. some bites were straight sauerkraut, others were a swiss cheese glob. but delicious sauerkraut and swiss. and the buttery bread made for a perfect light brown crisp, but left my fingers greasy in an unpleasant "just got in a fight with the lube and the lube won" sort of way.
overall, my guest judge and i both independently gave our experience an A-. a success, i'd say, given the fact that i demolished the thing.
will another reuben put up a fight to join irving's in the top spot? who knows, but my stomach is looking forward to finding out.
